After your appointment

A good tattoo is step one. Healing is step two.

Treat a fresh tattoo like a wound: keep it clean, calm and free from unnecessary interference. Your skin does the real work.

Six rules for calm healing

The personal instructions from the studio are decisive. Contact Steven if anything is unclear or unexpected.

01

Leave the film alone

Follow the instructions for the applied second skin. Remove it only at the agreed time and with clean hands.

02

Wash gently

Use lukewarm water and unscented soap. Pat dry with clean, lint-free material; never scrub.

03

Apply a thin layer

Use only the recommended aftercare and apply it sparingly so the skin can breathe.

04

Do not scratch

Itching and flaking are part of healing. Picking can damage both pigment and skin.

05

Avoid soaking and heat

Do not swim, bathe or use a sauna while healing. Shower briefly and keep the area clean.

06

Protect it from sunlight

Keep a fresh tattoo out of direct sunlight. After healing, use a high SPF to reduce fading.

Watch for warning signs

Increasing redness, heat, swelling, severe pain, pus or fever may indicate an infection. Contact your doctor. For questions about normal healing, send Steven a photograph.
